AI for Development — Hands-on Workshop

The two-day standard track

Day 1: driving the agent. Setup and first real tasks, writing the context files (CLAUDE.md / AGENTS.md) for your repository, prompting and reviewing agent output, deciding what is worth delegating, and recognising the ways agents fail before one of them costs you an afternoon.

Day 2: your codebase. We agree on two topics with you up front and work them through on your own repository:

• Migrating legacy applications with AI assistance
• Setting up AI-driven code review on your repository
• Generating and hardening test suites for an existing codebase
• Building custom skills, slash commands, and MCP integrations for your team
• Automating Git, CI, and pull request workflows with coding agents
• Rolling AI tooling out across a team without burning trust

What your team has afterwards

These are artifacts in your repository at the end of day two, not slides:

• Context files for your codebase, reviewed and committed
• An AI code review running on your pull requests, wired into your CI
• Two or three custom skills for the workflows your team repeats
• A migration or test-generation spike on real code, not on a sample project
• A written team convention for what agents may do and how their output is reviewed

Other formats

Half-day follow-up, three to four weeks later. Adoption tends to stall in week two, when the first agent-written pull request gets a rough review and people quietly go back to their old habits. We go through your team's actual usage and fix what is in the way. Remote, and worth booking with the workshop.

One day works as an evaluation format when you want to see what the tooling does before committing a team to it.

Three to five days for a full migration or team-onboarding programme.

Every format is tailored: we shape the agenda together up front, and sessions run onsite or fully virtual.

Prerequisites

Solid software development experience in any modern language. Comfort with the command line, Git, and pull request workflows. No prior experience with AI coding agents is required.

Before day one, please have a repository the group may work in, plus a Claude (or comparable) account for every participant. Sorting the accounts and access out in advance is what keeps day one hands-on instead of spent on installation.
